Basingstoke NeighbourCare Supporting Older People
For nearly 30 years, Basingstoke NeighbourCare has helped residents remain independent, connected and supported. Established in 1997, this registered charity provides transport, befriending and practical support services across Basingstoke and some close by villages.
Helping People Stay Independent
Many residents, face difficulties getting to medical appointments, shops, social activities or exercise clubs. NeighbourCare’s accompanied car transport service helps older people and those with limited mobility travel safely. Volunteer drivers can often stay with passengers during appointments, providing reassurance as well as transport.
Tackling Loneliness
NeighbourCare’s free befriending service connects volunteers with local residents who would benefit from regular social contact, through phone calls or face-to-face visits. These friendships help people stay connected and reduce isolation.
Community Cafés
NeighbourCare runs three welcoming community cafés, social groups where people can meet others, enjoy refreshments in an informal setting.
Practical Help at Home
NeighbourCare also offers Handyperson and Gardening Services to help older residents stay safe and comfortable in their own homes. Services include minor household repairs, fitting grab rails, assembling furniture, grass cutting and general garden maintenance.
